UC Resources Ltd. Announces Phase 2 Drilling Has Commenced on Copalquin Project, Durango Mexico
April 25, 2006
Resources Ltd.: Torreon, Coahuila, Mexico/Vancouver, British Columbia; Trading Symbol: UC: TSXV (the “Company”)
The Company is pleased to announce that the Stage 2 drilling program at UC Resources’ Copalquin Project has commenced. As previously announced, drilling in Stage 1 intersected wide zones of epithermal style gold and silver mineralization localized within a silicified breccia zones at two prospects referred to as El Cometa and El Refugio. Based on the potential to significantly expand these mineralized zones the Company bought out the interest of joint venture partner Planet Exploration Ltd. and expanded the land package from 7,000 hectares to over 19,000 hectares (see NR’s dated October 17, 2005 and October 26, 2005).
The objectives of this stage of drilling are to test geochemical anomalies which may represent extensions of the main mineralized zones identified at Copalquin during Stage 1. Additional drilling is planned throughout 2006 to test geochemical anomalies and areas of alteration which extend for several kilometres to the east and west of the El Cometa and El Refugio are. Results will be announced as they become available.
The primary target areas include potential strike extensions of the El Cometa and El Refugio zones and a broad geochemical anomaly located between the El Cometa and La Soledad. La Soledad is a high grade past producer with reported historic production of 200,000 ounces of gold and 8,000,000 ounces of silver (Wilkins report 1998).
The first drill station is located approximately 90 meters southwest of previous drilling at the El Cometa Zone and will be comprised of several holes to evaluate the orientation and thickness of the mineralized breccia zone in this area.
Like many of the other success stories in the Sierra Madre, Copalquin has a history of gold and silver production going back hundreds of years and the work presently being carried out by UC represents the first modern, systematic exploration in this district. UC’s focus is solely in Mexico and the Company is actively searching for additional quality assets so that UC can become a producing gold and silver exploration and development company in 2006.
